🤔This mysterious LLM is rumored to be GPT-4.5

The site where you can test it out.

What happened: A new AI model was released to the public on the sly. It’s called “gpt2-chatbot”. But it’s so powerful and effective that many people think this could be an unofficial testing for ChatGPT-4.5. Here’s how you can try it out yourself:

Here’s how to test it yourself:

  • Head over to: https://chat.lmsys.org

  • Click "Direct Chat".

  • Select "gpt2-chatbot" where it allows you to choose your chatbot.

  • Enter your prompt and watch your mind get 🤯

I think it’s far fetched for this to be GPT-5. But a 4.5 beta or test is possible. Let us know what you think!

🥺 AI influencers can express emotions now. Synthesia is an AI startup that creates video avatars. Well, now they can express emotions better than before. Synthesia is very popular. And they’re not the only ones adding emotions to their avatars. Multiple AI companies have sprung up (literally over a dozen) who create digital avatars with realistic facial expressions. This is the year when AI gets… uncanny.

🎮 Generative AI is inching into game development. Over 1,000 games on Steam reportedly use generative AI. Most of this is in art creation for now. You know, stuff like 2D art and the like. But tools like Unreal Engine are looking to incorporate AI in big ways, such as using AI to generate 3D assets in their entirety, or to create scenes for 3D movies (different from pure video generation like SORA).

🤓Amazon launches “Q” AI assistant

What happened: Amazon just launched “Q”, an AI assistant developed for software development and enterprise data. It integrates with AWS systems to assist with coding and data management.

The details:

  • “Amazon Q Developer” is a version which focuses on automating software development tasks.

  • “Amazon Q Business” is a version which centralizes and simplifies access to enterprise data.

  • Amazon has released free courses on how to use Q.

  • Consumers will not interact with Q directly. This is mostly for software developers and enterprise.

  • Q has received positive feedback, with some already claiming it’s the best AI assistant they’ve ever used.

Why it matters: The wide availability of Q combines with how useful the tool is to create a big change for data management and software developers. This is one of the bigger, more obvious shifts towards using AI to enhance productivity in a daily job. And tools like Q will eventually make their way into every industry and corner.

🧑‍⚖️8 newspapers are suing OpenAI

What happened: AI companies are known for breaking copyright in order to train their models. This goes for text, images, and even video. Now newspapers are suing OpenAI for training ChatGPT on their papers without permission.

The details:

  • The claim is that ChatGPT (and CoPilot) were trained on newspapers without their permission or compensation.

  • They have proof. They provided evidence that ChatGPT and Copilot reproduced extensive parts of their articles, suggesting unauthorized use in training datasets.

  • Copilot can quote entire articles verbatim without citing the original source.

  • This includes New York Daily News, Chicago Tribune, Orlando Sentinel, South Florida Sun Sentinel, San Jose Mercury News, Denver Post, Orange County Register and St. Paul Pioneer Press.

  • This is a common complaint with AI across the board, from text to images, video, and music.

Why this matters: Training data is one of the biggest obstacles for AI models to overcome. And obtaining this data can get very expensive. You either buy the rights or you steal the data anyway. It’s debatable how far this can go. Hopefully this case has some consequences and sets a precedent.
