Hugging face announces their robotics project, everyone distrusts AI, and apparently they have good reason… we summarize OpenAI’s project Q* and why everyone is so hyped (and scared) of it.
Today’s Horizon
Open source robots are coming.
Public trust in AI is eroding.
AI makes for a good teacher.
Big food is already using AI.
What is OpenAI’s “threat to humanity?”

🤖Hugging face launches robotics project

Source: Remi Cadene’s Twitter/X
What happened: Open source AI platform Hugging Face is launching a new robotics project with a former Tesla scientist, Remi Cadene. He formerly worked on self-driving vehicle technology and humanoid robots at Tesla.
The details:
Hugging Face is entering the robotics field as an open-source project, led by former Tesla scientist Remi Cadene.
Cadene helped create humanoid robots at Tesla and is currently seeking engineers for building robots in Paris.
The project aims to develop open-source and low-cost robotics, broadening the availability of these systems.
Hugging Face remains open source. This is different than OpenAI, who are not open source but remain a non-profit (mostly).
Job listings for robotic specialists have already appeared.
Why it matters: Robotics are officially coming. While it may be awhile before they mature enough for widespread practical use, robots are the future of physical labor now.
ALSO: Open source also means the technology will be available to everyone, so this is a massive positive. Although I think Hugging Face has a ways to go before they catch up to Tesla.
Further Details:
This comes right after OpenAI announced their partnership with startup Figure to create humanoid robots for their AI model.
Tesla has made significant progress on their own robots, who have become a public face of robotic advancement.
This coincides with developing fears of robotics taking away physical labor from the job market.

🚄SILVER BULLETS

Trust is the currency of the AI era. Polls show the public is rapidly turning against AI. In the newest poll from consultancy firm Edelman, Global trust in AI dropped from 61% in 2019 to 53%. Trust in the US is even lower, from 50% to 35%. The main reason: fear over job losses. If AI companies want to move forward with the public, they’ll need greater transparency and even regulations.
Google’s fighting back against the AI spam. The internet has become rife with low quality AI generated content. Some blogs literally post over 1,000 articles a day. Google is finally fighting back with a new ranking system specifically designed to fight back against this kind of crap. Now low quality content will get ranked lower regardless of who or what made it. Let’s be clear, Google is not against AI content, it’s against any form of spam and low quality content.

✏️AI math teacher boosts performance in Africa

Source: The New York Times
What happened: A recent study in Ghana (an African country) showed positive results with using an AI program called Rori designed to teach math to students.
The results:
The AI program significantly improved math scores across all grades.
Rori is a chat based AI system, like ChatGPT, and allowed students to type conversations with it.
Rori was able to personalize its teachings to each individual student to work on their weak points.
Rori proves that AI teachers are incredibly scaleable and cost efficient, especially across lower income countries.
The biggest hurdles with the program were attendance and consistency on part of the students.
Why it matters: Most low income countries have poor eduction due to a lack of resources. An AI system is not only cost effective, but can be standardized. This study will help push AI into education and beyond only math.
On the Horizon: AI provides an adaptable and easily scaleable option for educating everyone, not just third world countries. If AI teachers work so well in Ghana, why not the U.S. or Europe? Something tells me we’ll see more AI integration with schools across the world.

🍔Big food is already using AI

AI-generated food, anyone?
What happened: Big food is using AI to come up with new formulas and predict consumer habits. AI is being used for everything from data analysis and predicting market trends, to formula creation and logistic management.
How AI helps:
AI is used to create new formulas, optimize supply chains and predict consumer behavior.
AI is combined with human creativity to create new flavors, proving AI can be used as a tool rather than a replacement.
AI has been a central tool in sourcing, manufacturing and logistics.
Unilever developed a zero-salt bouillon cube using AI for formulation and production.
Bayer uses AI data analysis in agriculture to increase crop yields, crucial for meeting the growing global food demand.
Many food industry professionals still hesitate to use AI assistance.
The food industry stresses the importance of human interaction with AI to enhance solutions and increase efficiency, rather than using AI for cost-cutting only.
Why it matters: The effects of AI go beyond mere computer screens. Data analysis, breakthroughs, supply chains, and predictive data all play a role in our daily lives. AI affects or helps all of these things. Look for creative ways to integrate AI into your industry or job. You may be surprised.

💣What is Q* and the “threat to humanity?”
Source: CNN
Elon Musk’s lawsuit mentions Q* several times and calls it a “threat to humanity”. So what is Q*?
The history of Q*:
Q* is a codename for a rumored/leaked AI breakthrough from OpenAI.
No one from OpenAI has officially confirmed these rumors, the sources who reported this were anonymous.
Sam Altman's departure from OpenAI was influenced by a letter from researchers to the board about a significant AI breakthrough.
The letter described the AI breakthrough as a potential threat to humanity.
This conflict is believed to be the catalyst for Sam Altman’s temporary departure from OpenAI last year.
Q* is believed to be an advancement towards Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). Basically the kind of scary and intelligent AI you see in movies.
Q* has been internally acknowledged by OpenAI.
The conflict shows the dangers and ethics of AI development.
If Q* is real then it will shake the entire AI industry to its core when finally revealed.
Further details:
Q-learning is a type of reinforcement learning where the computer is taught from their actions. Whether or not project Q* uses q-learning is nothing but speculation.
Keep an eye out for anymore Q* rumors or announcements, as they’re sure to be massive.

🧠3 ChatGPT prompts to generate ideas

Here’s some basic prompts for generating ideas for articles and posts.
Blog and Topic: “I run a blog for [TARGET AUDIENCE] about [TOPIC]. Come up with [NUMBER] ideas that I could write about on my blog. For each idea, suggest [NUMBER] different titles.”
Blogs for Products : “List 20 ideas for blog posts to help me promote my latest product [NAME AND BRIEF DESCRIPTION]. Each blog post idea should target a specific search engine keyword: give the keywords.”
Role-play version: “You are a professional blog writer. Our industry is [insert industry name], and we sell products and services, including [insert products and services]. Create 10 ideas for blogs that we can use to demonstrate our expertise in our field and to persuade readers to follow me in order to learn more.”
Personally I find the most success with role-play variants. Try changing around the wording a bit and see what happens!
